Another entry in the Biannual SAWS (Southern Alberta Woodworkers) exhibition in Calgary 2023. This particular piece was actually inspired by all the offcuts I had left over from a very large Big Leaf Maple bowl also part of the exhibition mentioned above. I stared experimenting with the "bits" assembling them in various ways until they began to resemble a world famous local climbing destination known as "The Bugaboo Spires", while some other pieces together looked like a sailing scene, from nearby Windermere Lake. The initial idea was for each scene to be wall mounted separately to be used as mini shelves which was not possible during the exhibition and so the shelves are mounted on a walnut display using hidden rare earth magnets.
